Current Projects

I’d like to share with you reflections from new writing projects I am working on.

AS FOR ME, I’LL TAKE THE SUN.
And it will ask me to pause.
To make a time for re-visiting.
For reverie.
And for dreaming.
It takes that to find the Opening.
This, I know.
And where does this lead?
I choose to let it show me . . .
while I remain
the child . . .
Open to surprise.
Oh yes, you come too, if you’d like.

Broad Horizons / Open Options

There are ways to know, of course. Always have been. And as with anything with a foreverness quality about it, there’s good reason to make time to give it a closer look. Maybe pause and look still deeper. What’s the point in all the floundering and flailing about, bemoaning our estate? Especially when what we need – and get this one – when what we need, we already have.

Looking for life’s “Foreverness” qualities

It’s all ours to know already, you know. Never was there a time we were without. It’s been here . . . right here . . . even there . . . quite frankly, everywhere and all along: the most sacred of all wisdoms, the revealed knowings, the very “whats and how to’s” that so much time is spent throughout a lifetime in searching out. All right here and for all to see, and to know, and to delight and revel in.

Try the light-filled, sun-dappled path

So as it happens, I choose to take the sun-dappled path . . . you know the one that follows along beside the ever-flowing stream, the one you’ve heard about . . . the one less traveled.

Because for me it is the clear sense that it is time. It is the time, it is the season to take a place on life’s grassy bank, to take the time to put toes into the stream, to test the waters once more. It’s time to watch the little eddies form. To play with the flow of things. To slow them just enough to allow the easy contemplation of meanings – meanings astride every swirling, gushing, gurgling, burbling, fast-flowing event of my life, as well as along life’s broader streams – the days and events and the months and years.

It is time.

I’ve heard the pundits, sought out the wise, the powerful, and the less so. Befriended those from many backgrounds, pondered their different ways. I’ve listened, watched closely, queried, and probed. I’ve mused. And what those stories contain – and hear this one – they contain what I call a shared quality, an easy similitude, a comfortable familiarity . . . magnificent and glorious.

And adding to the fascination of it all is the sense of all-out accessibility. No need to thrash life’s bushes to search out the what’s what of things. What we yearn for is available and ready for us no matter where we decide to look. Or when.
As for myself, I’m taking the plunge. No need to stew about finding the beginnings of things, or, for that matter, stake claim to the gist of it all before setting out because, quite simply, where would be the jump-off point within the eternal?
Oh sure, there’s a recorded date of birth back there close to the end of the Great Depression of the 1930s and the outset of World War II in the early ’40s but for me, those, and other now historical events, are each but its own challenging, admittedly often troubling surges in the eddying pools of life. And why this?

And a reason

Because for me things have had an always quality about each one. A flow. A sort of no time it ever wasn’t sense to it. Life, to me, has always been a foreverness, and that, I find, is nothing short of wondrous.

So to this stirring, this gentle nudging around the heart area, this urgency to reflect, to take stock, assess, and there to dream and thus to write about this multi-decade sojourn, it is time.

And, as for you, if you’d like, you come too. Together we’ll ponder life’s most brilliant, be dazzled by life’s exquisiteness, and surely be enthralled by, and even revel in the what is, and the always has been.
